Message from the President
As a well known Artist and Musician, Youssou Ndour no longer needs to prove his commitment to serve the cause of “the voiceless” in Senegal and around the world.
Through his music, he tries to restore the image of a “scorched” Africa and to regain hope for a whole generation of Africans.
As a goodwill Ambassador who is aware of the real needs of the people, particularly in Senegal, he has set up his own Foundation, in order to help safeguard the rights of children, facilitate access to health, promote economic reinsertion among others.
It’s with extreme honor that the Foundation’s Board of Directors chose me as President. Reaching the objectives of this Organization will not only give me the opportunity to realize the lifelong dream I’ve always had for the children but it will be a real challenge vis a vis the projects that have already been completed.
Our mission will consist of pursuing actions related to health (fight against malaria and HIV/AIDS in particular), social reinsertion of the youth, street children, access to education, but also to initiate new cultural, environmental and sports related projects.
In collaboration with our partners, my team and I will leave no stone unturned to mobilize and provide the human and financial resources necessary to reach our objectives.
Many efforts have been made, however the reality remains alarming. There’s a need for more commitment by everyone for causes that concern all of us. More than ever, during this time of world crisis, we are called for increased compassion and solidarity.
I wouldn’t end without sharing this quote by Camus that summarizes all my feeling: ‘What’s revolting is not the fact that children suffer, but that their suffering is not justified.
Aïda Coulibaly Ndour
